Updates in Microsoft Teams

Modern Onboarding Experience in Chat, Channel, and Personal App:

To elucidate the Updates app's value and streamline the team reporting process, we've elevated its appearance and user experience. This not only simplifies the process of creating requests and submitting reports but also makes it easier to convey the product's value in various scenarios.

Export to Excel File:

With the newly introduced export feature, users can seamlessly export all received update submissions to an Excel file. This customer-driven enhancement facilitates data analysis, archiving, and effortless data sharing.

Summary View of Received Submissions:

In addition to individual content submissions, viewers can now access data organized by question, allowing for a more focused overview. The flexibility to customize displayed data statistics enables users to track submission status efficiently.

Ready By, Like, and Comment:

Enhance collaboration during weekly report sync-ups with the ability to acknowledge information receipt, offer virtual appreciation for excellent reports, and initiate discussions. These features are designed to boost teamwork and overall work efficiency.

Copilot Enhancements:

Copilot in Teams Meetings now offers the flexibility to use its features without retaining a transcript after the meeting. Meeting organizers, empowered by admins, can set their preferences before or during the meeting. This ensures a dynamic interaction where Copilot responds to queries during the meeting, without leaving a trace in the form of transcripts or interactions post-meeting. This enhancement is available for users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

AI Advancements in Teams:

Voice Isolation: Teams introduces Voice Isolation, a groundbreaking feature that recognizes and prioritizes your voice in unscheduled calls and meetings. After a brief enrollment process, AI in Teams ensures that your voice stands out, suppressing other background noises and voices. This feature will be incorporated into Teams Phone and Teams Meetings, scheduled to be available in early 2024.

Decorate Your Background: Add a touch of fun and personalization to meetings with "Decorate Your Background." Using AI, meeting participants can enhance their real-world surroundings by generating background effects that clean up clutter or add virtual elements like plants to walls. This feature, available in early 2024, is accessible to users with a Teams Premium license.

Teams Rooms and Devices Innovations:

Expansion of Speaker Recognition: Teams Rooms introduces speaker recognition, utilizing existing hardware to attribute spoken contributions to individual attendees in the transcript. This enhances Copilot and Intelligent Recap's ability to provide accurate insights based on individual contributions. This feature will be available in early 2024 for customers with a Teams Rooms Pro license.

Teams Rooms and Devices Innovations

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Enhancements: Teams aims to improve the BYOD experience with features like QR Code reservations for bookable desks and a shared display mode to protect personal information. Intelligent speakers, previously exclusive to Teams Rooms, will also be available for BYOD rooms by the end of 2023. Bookable desk discoverability, reservation, and analytics will be enhanced in early 2024.

Microsoft Mesh:

Microsoft Mesh introduces a three-dimensional (3D) immersive experience for workplace collaboration. In Teams, Immersive Spaces leverage Mesh technology to transform 2D meetings into captivating 3D experiences. Key capabilities include customizable avatars, a variety of 3D environments, seat assignments, spatial audio, interactive activities, and live reactions. Immersive Spaces in Teams will be generally available in January 2024, promising a new era of virtual collaboration.

Forward chat

Forward chat makes it easier to get your work done with fewer clicks. Share a message with another colleague by simply clicking on the message’s right click menu and selecting forward. You can add additional content to the message to provide context and clarity for the recipient. You can forward messages to 1:1 chats and group chats. This capability will be available in early 2024.

Group chat profile picture

You will have a better way to reflect your team and group chat topic, with custom pictures. Group chat members can upload an image or use pre-selected illustrations and emojis, adding a layer of inclusivity and expression to their chat. This capability will be available in early 2024.

Manage your teams and channels

You can easily manage the channels list in Teams to focus on what matters most. When starting a new collaboration space, you will be prompted to create a channel, and when joining a new team, you can choose only the channels they would like to show in the channel list. When a channel is no longer active or relevant, you can archive the channel and it will be hidden and closed for further action, but the information can still be accessed. This capability will be available in early 2024.
